The only difference of importance that I can see is that the A8N-E supports SATA 3 GB/s while the A8N5X only supports SATA 1.5 GB/s. SATA 3 GB/s is newer and thus the motherboard will have better upgrade options in the future.
Also if you plan on running a RAID array, SATA 3 GB/s is a must.
Also, the A8N-E has 1 more audio port (which probably doesn’t matter).
